The Big Lebowski | 1998

You have this one life. How do you wanna spend it? Apologizing? Regretting? Questioning? Hating yourself? Dieting? Running after people who don’t see you? Be brave. Believe in yourself. Do what feels good. Take risks. You have this one life. Make yourself proud.

… and we are in bed together
laughing
and we don’t care

It hangs between us like airplane silence, and we’re left praying that this thing doesn’t come crashing down the way it’s supposed to. Your hands find mine again and again like you’re afraid they belong to a ghost. You tell me there are mountains out there being named after us, and I can’t help but think that they’re crumbling at the sight of you. On the better nights, I thank the oceans for giving you to me. For parting the right ways so we could find each other finally. You’re loud in the way you can’t stop thinking about holding me, and I confess that I’ve dreamed of you every night since I learned how to dream. There are bad nights, too. Nights when we leave the wrong doors open, my ghosts slip into the room, and we both wake up cold. But if there’s a place out there where the mistakes I’ve made stop hurting, then it has to be right where you’re standing.
